Antonio Banderas invites you to the 4th edition of the Millenium Festival

RésuméThe Millenium Festival opens her doors on Tuesday the 17th of April starting from 7.30pm at the Cinema Galleries: screening of "Calypso Rose, The Lioness of the Jungle" followed by a concert of the Haïtian singer Marlène Dorcéna. In a special message addressed to the Millenium Festival, Antonio Banderas, goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Program for Development, defends the importance of art and cinema to raise awareness amongst citizens of the major endeavours facing humanity.
The evening programme includes the screening of Calypso Rose, The Lioness of the Jungle. The Camerounese director Pascale Obolo and Rebeca Grynspan, Under-Secretary General of the United Nations and Associated Administrator of the PNUD will be present at the opening ceremony.
«I didn’t become a Calypso singer, I was born into Calypso music» said Calypso Rose, the great diva of Trinidad and Tobago. The film delivers an intimate portrait where she tells us about her childhood, her inspirations, her career, her commitment to humanitarian causes and the faith that guides her life.
The screening will be followed by a concert of Marlène Dorcéna, who infuses her music with the cultural mishmash of Haiti. She represents the soul of creole blues with a touch of bossa nova, jazz, salsa and gospel.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday the 22th of April starting from 19h30 at Studio 4 of Flagey. During the ceremony the nominated films will be presented and the winners will be announced. An awarded film a will be screened for the public. A drink will be offered with live music.

21 directors will be present during the festival, in addition to other special guests and experts who will present the films and engage in debates about the future of our society.
