RésuméThe film “When the Bough Breaks” by Ji Dan, one of the most important film directors in China, won the Objectif d’Or award of the Millenium Festival 2012. Ji Dan dives into the lives of a family of Chinese migrant workers that struggle to survive. With a father gone crazy and an overwhelmed mother, it’s left up to the children to try to change a fate that offers them nothing but misery and degradation. Five other awards were handed out during the award ceremony.

"“When the Bough Breaks” represents the theatre of everyday life with a universal dimension. Thanks to the complicity of the family that resists despite of everything and a filmmaker with a distinguished approach, the documentary conveys a great sensibility, determination and obstinacy." Jury 2012
